πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Poverty Beach in New Jersey is an exposed beach and reef break that can deliver quality surf when conditions align. It works best with a south-southeast swell and offshore winds from the north-northwest, producing both left and right-hand waves. The break picks up a mix of groundswells and windswells and offers good surf across all stages of the tide. While it’s often crowded, especially when firing, surfers should remain cautious of hazards such as strong rips, man-made obstacles like buoys, and occasionally territorial locals. The most consistent and clean conditions typically occur in the autumn, with November being the standout month for optimal surf.
