📍 Local Knowledge

Monmouth Beach is an exposed beach and jetty break that consistently picks up both groundswells and windswells, performing best on southeast to east swells with offshore winds from the northwest. The spot works at a variety of tide stages, though mid tide often produces the most defined peaks, especially around the jetties where waves can form longer, cleaner walls. Autumn, particularly September through November, delivers the most reliable surf thanks to hurricane swells and favorable wind patterns. While it offers a mix of lefts and rights, conditions can be powerful and fast, demanding skill in larger swells. Crowds are common on good days, and surfers should watch for strong rip currents and submerged jetty rocks.
