📍 Local Knowledge

55th Street Pier in New Jersey is a consistently surfable beach/jetty break that works year-round, with the best conditions occurring during winter, particularly in March. It handles both groundswells and windswells, with an ideal swell angle from the northeast. The optimal wind direction for this spot is from the west, ideally offshore. The break offers both left and right-hand waves, though it can get crowded due to its popularity. Strong rips are present, so caution is needed. The most favorable surf conditions are found when a northeast swell coincides with west offshore winds, producing clean, rideable waves.
