📍 Local Knowledge

North Assateague (The Wedge) in Maryland is an exposed beach and jetty break known for its fairly consistent surf and year-round potential. It performs best when southeast swells align with offshore winds from the west, producing primarily left-hand waves. This break handles both groundswells and windswells, and is most effective around high tide. Unlike more popular spots, The Wedge tends to remain uncrowded even when conditions are good, making it a more peaceful option for surfers. Hazards include rip currents and occasional sea-lice. The prime season for clean, rideable waves is summer, with July offering the most reliable combination of swell and favorable wind.
