📍 Local Knowledge

Scarborough Beach State Park in Maine is an exposed beach break that usually offers surfable waves year-round. Offshore winds from the northwest create the best conditions, with a blend of groundswells and windswells feeding the beach. The ideal swell direction is from the southeast, producing both left and right hand waves. The beach works well at all stages of the tide and can get somewhat crowded. Surfers should watch out for rips, rocks, and pollution. The prime season for consistent, clean waves is during autumn, especially in November.
