📍 Local Knowledge

Old Orchard Beach in Maine is an exposed beach and pier break with reasonably consistent surf year-round. The best conditions happen when an east swell aligns with offshore winds from the west. Both windswells and groundswells contribute equally to the waves, which break both left and right. Surf is best around low tide during the rising tide phase. The spot is rarely crowded, but surfers should watch out for hazards such as rips, rocks, and pollution. Summer offers the most consistent clean waves, especially in September.
