El Transito in Nicaragua is a mellow beach break with a sand bottom and a small rock and sand point on the south side, offering waves for all levels. It works best with southwest to south-southwest swells between 180–215 degrees, but also handles west swells and smaller northwest swells under 290 degrees. The wave is best from waist high to one foot overhead on an incoming tide, with mellow barrels and medium-length rides. Best periods are 16 seconds or under, with northeast to east offshore winds keeping conditions clean. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with northeast offshore winds, with the most consistent surf during summer, especially in July.
