Waipio Bay in Big Island is an exposed beach break known for its dependable year-round surf. It performs best when northeast swells meet offshore winds from the southwest, producing clean left and right peaks along the shoreline. While the break handles a range of swell conditions and works on all tides, it's rarely crowded—even on good days. The area is remote and scenic, but surfers should remain alert to hazards like strong rips and the presence of sharks. March typically offers the most consistent and clean surf conditions.
