πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Tombstones on the Big Island is an exposed reef break that delivers consistent surf, particularly during the winter months. The spot performs best when northeast swells meet offshore winds from the southwest, creating clean, powerful waves that break both left and right. Tides have little impact on the quality of the surf here, making it a dependable option across most conditions. While the wave can attract a crowd on good days, it's manageable. Hazards include sharp reef, localism, and occasional shark sightings. Though it’s most consistent in winter, July often sees some of the best clean conditions.
