The Cove in Maui is a fairly exposed reef break with unreliable waves. Summer is the best time of year for surfing here. When it does break, conditions are best when a west swell pairs with offshore winds from the north-northeast, producing left and better right-hand reef breaks. This spot is sometimes crowded when it's working. Hazards include rocks, so use caution. While not the most dependable location, the month of January tends to offer the best chance for consistent, clean waves.
