Slaughterhouse in Maui is a fairly exposed beach break with unreliable surf, and winter is the best time of year to catch waves. When it does break, conditions are best when a north swell pairs with offshore winds from the southeast, producing clean lefts and rights. This spot is sometimes crowded when it's working. Hazards include rips/undertow, rocks, and sharks, so use caution. While not the most dependable location, the month of January tends to offer the best chance for consistent, clean waves.
