📍 Local Knowledge
Pololu Valley in Big Island is an exposed beach and reef break known for its consistent surf and scenic isolation. It works year-round, but delivers its best when northeast swells combine with offshore winds from the south-southwest, producing clean, rideable waves that break both left and right. The break handles all tide stages and typically sees minimal crowds, even when the surf is on. Surfers should be cautious of strong rips and sharks in the area. March is often the prime month to catch Pololu Valley offering its cleanest, most consistent surf.
