📍 Local Knowledge

Makaha in Oahu is a well-known exposed beach and reef break that offers reliable surf year-round. It performs best with groundswells from the west and clean offshore winds from the northeast. The break features both lefts and rights over reef and sand, providing solid rides across all stages of the tide. While the spot is popular and can get crowded, especially during solid winter swells, there's usually enough room for everyone. Be mindful of submerged rocks. Winter—particularly January—delivers the most consistent and clean conditions at Makaha.
