📍 Local Knowledge

Little Makaha in Maui is a reasonably exposed reef break that usually has waves. Winter is the favored time of year to surf here. When it's working, conditions are best when a northwest swell pairs with offshore winds from the east-southeast, producing a clean right-hand reef break. This spot is often crowded when the surf is good. Hazards include rocks and locals, so use caution. While it's a dependable location, the month of January tends to offer the best chance for consistent, clean waves.
