📍 Local Knowledge

Kua Bay in Big Island is an exposed beach break offering fairly consistent surf, especially during the winter months. The spot works best when a west-northwest swell meets offshore winds from the southeast, delivering clean, rideable waves that are surfable at all stages of the tide. While not overly crowded, it can get busy on good days, and localism may be a concern. January is generally the best time to catch reliable, high-quality surf at Kua Bay.
