Kings Reef in Maui is an exposed reef and point break with consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. When it's working, conditions are best when a north-northeast swell pairs with offshore winds from the south, producing clean left and right-hand reef breaks. This spot is often crowded when the surf is good. Hazards include urchins, rips, rocks, locals, and sharks, making caution essential. While it's a dependable location, the month of December tends to offer the best chance for consistent, clean waves.
