📍 Local Knowledge

Honomanu Bay is an exposed beach and reef break that offers consistent surf throughout the year, with optimal conditions when northeast groundswells combine with offshore winds from the south-southwest. The break produces peaks that can run both left and right, and it remains surfable across all stages of the tide, giving it flexibility in changing conditions. While it can handle a variety of swells, clean groundswells are the most common, and the bay rarely draws crowds, making it one of the quieter spots on Maui’s north shore. Hazards to be aware of include strong rip currents and the presence of sharks, both of which require caution for those unfamiliar with the lineup.
