Honolii Beach Park on the Big Island is an exposed reef break known for its consistency and dependable surf, especially in the winter months. The break performs best when a northeast swell pairs with offshore winds from the southwest, producing clean waves across both left and right reef breaks. It’s surfable throughout all tide stages, offering year-round reliability. However, the spot often draws a crowd, particularly when conditions are good. Surfers should watch out for submerged rocks, territorial locals, and the occasional shark. While winter is generally optimal, September is often the prime month for clean, rideable waves.
