📍 Local Knowledge

Halawa in Molokai is an exposed reef and rivermouth break known for its dependable surf and scenic, remote setting. It works best when a north-northwest swell meets offshore winds from the south, producing clean, powerful right-handers, although there’s also a left. Fueled by consistent groundswells, Halawa handles various tide stages well. Despite its remote location, it can attract a crowd when the surf is firing. Surfers should be cautious of rocks, strong rips, and sharks in the area. January is typically the best month to score consistent, quality waves at Halawa.
