📍 Local Knowledge
Big Beach in Maui is a quite exposed beach break that is usually a safe bet. Summer is the favored time of year for surfing here. When it's working, conditions are best when a west-southwest swell pairs with offshore winds from the northeast. This spot is a fairly popular wave that can sometimes get crowded when the surf is good. Hazards include rocks and sharks, so use caution. While it's a dependable location, the month of June tends to offer the best chance for consistent, clean waves.
