📍 Local Knowledge
Bay Front on the Big Island is a fairly exposed reef break that comes to life in the winter months. It works best when northeast swells meet offshore winds from the south, producing clean left-hand reef waves. This spot is known for catching long-period groundswells and can offer quality surf when conditions align. While not overly crowded, it is a popular wave and can see a good number of surfers during peak days. Hazards include sharp reef, urchins, and occasional localism, along with the presence of sharks. December is typically the best month for clean, consistent surf at Bay Front.
