πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Ammonias in Kauaβ€˜i is an exposed reef break that offers fairly consistent surf, with ideal conditions typically arriving in spring. The spot works best when a south-southeast swell meets offshore winds from the northwest, creating clean, right-breaking waves over the reef. Both local windswells and distant groundswells contribute to the surf here. While it can get crowded when it's firing, the wave quality generally makes it worth the paddle out. Surfers should be cautious of submerged rocks, especially at lower tides. May is often the prime month for scoring clean, rideable waves at Ammonias.
