Mers-les-Bains in Nord - Pas de Calais is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that works infrequently, with the autumn months offering the most optimal wave activity. It performs best with a northwest swell and offshore winds from the southeast, receiving a mix of groundswells and windswells. The spot provides both left and right-handers across the beach and is notably versatile, as it maintains good surf at all stages of the tide. It is unlikely to be crowded even when the surf is up, though surfers should be cautious of various underwater obstacles. The most consistent clean waves typically occur during the winter, particularly in January.
