📍 Local Knowledge

Cap Gris Nez in Nord - Pas de Calais is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that works infrequently, with the summer months typically remaining flat. It performs best with a northwest swell and offshore winds from the south, receiving an equal mix of windswells and groundswells. The spot provides both left and right-handers and is best surfed around mid-tide on a falling tide. While it very rarely gets crowded, surfers must be highly cautious of significant hazards, including rips, rocks, strong currents, and the surrounding cliffs. The most consistent clean waves typically occur during the winter, particularly in January.
