📍 Local Knowledge

Harbor Marker Buoys is a unique open-ocean beach-break located between St. Simons and Little St. Simons Islands. The spot hinges on a deepwater sandbar that, when exposed—especially at low tide—can deliver grinding, peeling waves. It performs best in late summer through early fall, particularly October, when southeastern or southern swells align with offshore winds to shape cleaner lines over the submerged bar system. The setup yields short, powerful peaks—best suited to experienced surfers. Access is strictly by boat, meaning lineups are always sparse, but surfers must be diligent about strong rip currents and the unpredictable behavior of this isolated sandbar configuration.
