📍 Local Knowledge

Playa Rapadoira in Galicia is a fairly exposed river break that offers fairly consistent surf, particularly during the autumn months. This urban beach, located at the mouth of the Foz estuary, favors right-hand waves driven by an equal mix of local windswells and distant groundswells; while it can sometimes get crowded due to its easy access, surfers must be cautious of the strong rip currents common near river mouths. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa Rapadoira occur when a North-northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southwest, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves is the month of January.
