📍 Local Knowledge

Playa de San Román in Galicia is a sheltered beach break that has fairly consistent surf. This shell-shaped bay provides both left and right-hand waves—notably a gorgeous left—driven by a mix of local windswells and distant groundswells; while it is unlikely to be too crowded even when the surf is up, surfers should be careful to avoid the rocks scattered along the break. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa de San Román occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the South-southwest, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves is the month of December.
