📍 Local Knowledge

Playa de Cariño in Galicia is a very sheltered beach break that has pretty consistent surf, especially when the rest of the coast is maxed out. This scenic spot provides both left and right-hand waves driven primarily by powerful groundswells; while it is rarely crowded, surfers should be extremely cautious as dangerous rip currents are a significant hazard here. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa de Cariño occur when a North swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southwest, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves is the month of February.
