Playa de Barona in Galicia is a fairly exposed beach and reef break with pretty consistent surf that can work at any time of the year. The spot offers both left and right-handers from an equal mix of local windswells and distant groundswells; it is very rarely crowded, though surfers should take extra care to avoid the rocks. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa de Barona occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southeast, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is the month of December.
