📍 Local Knowledge

Sunset Beach in Gulf Coast, Florida is an exposed sandbar break that works infrequently, with winter being the preferred season for surfing. The waves are mostly short-period windswells coming from the southwest, with ideal offshore winds from the northeast. Surf quality is generally unaffected by tide, and even when waves are good, the spot remains uncrowded. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell aligns with northeast offshore winds, with the most consistent clean surf usually found in January.
