Spoils in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is an exposed jetty wedge break that rarely produces good waves. It's a left and right break over a rock and sand bottom. Good conditions are infrequent, but the spot can handle larger hurricane swells, making the late fall through early spring the best season. When it does work, conditions are best with a north-northeast swell and offshore winds from the northwest, and during mid to high tide. Hazards include rocks, rip currents, and boat traffic from the nearby Port Everglades Inlet. The spot becomes very shallow at low tide, and a strong current can make paddling out difficult. This break is best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers and is generally uncrowded.
