Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach is a quiet, sand-bottom beach-break located just south of Jacksonville. It sees small, rideable surf when gentle windswell and groundswells align, usually peaking around knee- to thigh-high. The spot tends to work best in fall and winter—particularly November through January, when northeast swells and offshore winds coincide to enhance shape over the sandbars. Mid to high tide generally delivers the cleanest conditions. Crowds are light thanks to its peaceful location, but surfers should remain vigilant for rip currents and bar shifts due to the subtle, shifting bottom topography.
