π Local Knowledge
Picnic Tables is a sandy beach-break just south of Cocoa Beach, adjacent to Patrick Space Force Base with convenient roadside parking. It usually works best during fall through spring when northeast to east swells appear, and light west winds help shape clean, peaky waves. Low to mid tides tend to offer the best form. The waves are often peaky and fun, with both lefts and rights that suit a wide range of surfersβbeginners to experts. It sees relatively light crowds compared to busier areas, though submerged rocks may pose a hazard on days with bigger swell.
