📍 Local Knowledge

Fort Clinch State Park, located at the northern tip of Amelia Island, features a broad sand-bottom beach-break that picks up exposure from both ocean swells and winds flowing around the inlet. Surf here tends to be best in winter—particularly January, when northeast groundswells align with offshore breezes to produce the cleanest rideable peaks. Swell energy holds well at this exposed location, especially around mid tide. Accessibility is convenient via park access—ideal for both surfers and surf fishers—but even here, beware of rip currents near the jetty and changing bar formations.
