📍 Local Knowledge

Fort Walton Pier in Gulf Coast, Florida is an exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf, particularly during the winter months. The best conditions occur when a south-southeast swell meets offshore winds from the north-northeast. Most of the surf comes from windswells, with minimal groundswells. The beach break delivers both left and right-handers and works well across all tide stages. It can draw a crowd when it's on. Hazards include localism, pollution, and sharks. The most reliable clean waves are typically found in winter, with February being the prime month.
