Fernandina Pier in North Florida is an exposed beach break with pretty consistent surf that can work year-round. It performs best with offshore winds from the west-northwest and predominantly receives groundswells with the ideal swell direction from the east. The spot is rarely crowded, even when waves are up. Surfers should be cautious of rips, man-made dangers (buoys, etc.), and sharks. Optimal conditions occur when an east swell combines with west-northwest winds, with the most consistent clean waves typically found in winter, especially in January.
