📍 Local Knowledge
Blowing Rocks on Jupiter Island, Florida, is a fickle exposed reef break. It is named for the limestone outcroppings along the shoreline that can produce geysers of water when large waves crash against them, especially during the winter. This spot is best for intermediate to advanced surfers, as the hollow lefts break over a very shallow reef, posing a hazard to fins and skin. The best conditions occur with a sizable swell, stiff offshore winds, and at high tide. The spot is not typically crowded. While the surf can be rewarding, the primary hazards are the rocks, which can be very sharp and jagged.
