Meñakoz in Pais Vasco is a fairly exposed reef break that offers quite reliable surf, though it is frequently flat during the summer months. This spot is a dedicated reef break, featuring a powerful right-hander fueled by an equal measure of local windswells and distant groundswells; while it is a world-class location, visitors should be prepared for crowds and remain extremely cautious of hazards like dangerous rips and rocks. The best conditions occur when a North-northwest swell combines with South-southeast offshore winds, with December being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
