Offshore winds from the west clean up incoming surf, producing workable lefts and rights across shifting sandbars. The spot is surfable on all tides, though mid tide often offers the best mix of shape and consistency. Dewey can get crowded, especially in summer months due to its popularity and easy access, but quieter stretches can still be found. Surfers should watch for strong rip currents and shifting sand conditions. The most consistent clean waves usually occur in September.
