Witch’s Rock (Roca Bruja) is an exposed beach break in Costa Rica that delivers fast, hollow waves when the swell lines up. It works best with offshore winds from the east and tends to pick up groundswells from the south to southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a strong southwest swell combines with clean offshore east winds. The spot offers both lefts and rights across multiple peaks near the iconic rock, and while it draws surf charters and dedicated surfers, it remains less crowded than many mainland breaks. Surfers should watch out for strong rips, shifting sandbars, and occasional steep takeoffs at lower tides. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during the Pacific swell season, particularly between May and September.
