Raps is an exposed reef break in Guanacaste that offers very consistent waves. It works best with offshore winds from the east and groundswells from the southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the east. The spot is typically uncrowded, even during strong swells, but surfers should be cautious of urchins, rips, rocks, and sharks. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during the summer months, particularly in July.
