📍 Local Knowledge

Punta Banco is an exposed collection of reef and beach breaks in Golfo Dulce that is somewhat consistent, offering both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a South to Southwest groundswell with offshore winds from the Northeast. The break works well on all tides. The bottom is a combination of rock, sand, and coral reef. The spot usually has a crew in the water, and surfers should be aware of the rocks and coral reefs (especially at lower tides). The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in the Shoulder Season (May to August).
