Portete is an exposed right-hand reef break in Limon that offers fairly consistent surf. The most favorable conditions are a northeast windswell combined with offshore winds from the south-southwest. When the surf is up, the spot can get quite busy, and surfers should be aware of rips, jellyfish, and coral. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in February.
