📍 Local Knowledge

Playa Escondida is a fairly exposed reef break in Golfo de Nicoya that offers fairly consistent left and right-hand reef breaks. The most favorable conditions are a southwest groundswell with offshore winds from the east-northeast. The break works best around mid-tide when the tide is rising. The spot is a popular wave that can get crowded, and surfers should be aware of rocks and private access. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in July.
