π Local Knowledge
Playa El Rey is an exposed beach break that can light up when the swell is right. It works best with offshore winds from the east or northeast and tends to capture groundswells coming from the south to southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with light offshore east winds. The break offers both left and right-hand waves and generally sees moderate traffic only when conditions are solid. Surfers should be mindful of rips, shifting sandbars, and variable shorebreaks.
