📍 Local Knowledge

Playa Ballena is an exposed beach break that is consistent, offering both left and right-hand waves (with a notable river mouth break at the south end). The most favorable conditions are a Southwest (SW) swell with offshore winds from the East. The break works best at medium to high tide. The spot is generally uncrowded and well-suited for beginner and intermediate surfers. Surfers should be aware of rip currents, stingrays, and jellyfish. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in January.
