Junquillal is an exposed beach break in Guanacaste that is usually a reliable spot, offering both left and right-hand waves. The best time for waves is the wet season, from November to April. The most favorable conditions are a southwest groundswell with offshore winds from the northwest. The break works best around high tide. The spot is rarely crowded, but surfers should be aware of dangerous rips. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in September.
