Islita is an exposed beach break in Guanacaste that offers very reliable surf with both left and right-hand waves. It works best with offshore winds from the north and clean groundswells from the southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the north. The spot is usually uncrowded, even when the surf is up, but surfers should be cautious of rips and rocks, especially east of the stick in the water. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during the winter months, particularly in December.
