π Local Knowledge
Camaronal is an exposed beach break in Guanacaste that offers reliable surf with both left and right-hand waves. It works best with offshore winds from the north and groundswells from the south-southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a south-southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the north. The spot provides good surf at all tide stages and is typically uncrowded, even during strong swells. Surfers should take caution due to the presence of sharks and crocodiles. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during the winter months, particularly in December.
