📍 Local Knowledge

Sant Pol de Mar in Catalunia is an exposed beach and reef break with inconsistent surf that frequently remains flat during the summer months. The best conditions occur when an east-southeast swell—primarily windswell, though some shelter is provided from southwest winds—combines with an offshore wind direction from the northwest. The spot offers both left and right-hand waves that are surfable at all stages of the tide and breaks over a mixed bottom of sand and rocks, making it important to keep a sharp eye out for submerged hazards. While it very rarely gets crowded, the presence of the reef sections requires extra caution compared to a pure beach break.
